Ben Coates -English writer, aid worker and best-selling author of “The Rhine” and “Why the Dutch are different” has always enjoyed travelling a lot. He believes it brings tolerance and makes you appreciative of where you live yourself. On the way home to the UK one time, he got stranded at Schiphol airport. He rang the number of someone he had met on his journey and ended up staying in the Netherlands. As an Englishman in Rotterdam -able to see a variety of perspectives of life in the Netherlands-, Ben writes with excellent wit and insight about his experiences of Dutch culture.
